“Life is short and the world is wide, the sooner you start exploring it, the better.” – Simon Raven
Hi! I have a soul of a wanderer. Not only do I move a lot, I love to travel. Growing up I was lucky enough to take several trips with my family (Washington DC & Fort Worth, TX to visit family, & Montreal), my church group (Colorado for camp) and school (NY City for senior class trip) out side of Wisconsin, where I was born. Montreal and New York especially opened my eyes to a larger world. Listening to French being spoken on the streets in Montreal and hearing at least six languages walking around one city block in NY helped me realize there was a wide world out there that I knew nothing about. And I wanted to see and know more.
I got a little travel in under my belt in my twenties and thirties – Jamaica, Grand Bahamas, Cancun, and Costa Rica but kids, jobs and finances pretty much kept me in the states. I finally had an opportunity to take a trip anywhere in the world. I wanted to do something for my mom, so I offered her a trip anywhere she wanted to go. Surprisingly, she picked Portugal. Unfortunately, she became too ill to travel so I ended up going by myself and had a wonderful time. I then realized I didn’t need someone else to go with me but I could do it on my own. And a world traveler was born.
Since then I have traveled to 17 more countries – alone, with friends, and with my grandsons. With 195 countries in the world, I have a lot more to see.
